Our Events
Treatment Interactive Events:
PLWHA Victoria has a unique model for community based education through the Treatment Interactive Events (TIE'S). These events provide a HIV Positive safe environment for socialising, entertaining and learning. Entertainment is provided which helps everyone to relax with participation encouraged at any level you feel comfortable with.
Health messages are provided in a scripted format of personal stories and scenarios in a manner that enables participants to relate to different aspects of health issues. A panel of health care workers impart helpful information that addresses the personal aspects of health issues, along with helpful information to address personal stories covering a range of health topics such as medical, emotional, physical and dietary issues. Donated prizes are also utilised as an incentive to encourage attendance.
A synopsis and summary of each TIE is reported in PosLink following the event. Discussions and Issues raised by participants are also fed back into the planning of education resources and activities undertaken by PLWHA Victoria.
Brochures have now been developed and are supplied to attendees on the day of the TIE that provide reinforcement of the health messages and referrals for further information and assistance.
Watch this space for the date of our next TIE.
Planet Positive:
Planet Positive aims to facilitate and improve the social networks of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to improve their emotional and social well being in an enjoyable, non-threatening environment.
By having a social space for HIV Positive People and their friends, people can feel open about their status and feel safe in the knowledge that they are in an environment where being HIV Positive is the norm and not the exception.
Planet Positive is held every two months at various locations throughout Melbourne. Check your local newspaper, magazine, and PosLink for the next date and location. There's always FREE entry, finger food, and drink on arrival. For further information call (03) 9865 6772 or email planetpositive@plwhavictoria.org.au

Winterdaze / Red Raw:
PLWHA Victoria, in partnership with the ALSO Foundation offers a Time Out Space facility for HIV Positive People and their friends at these parties.
People are encouraged to sit down, take a break and grab a complimentary cold drink and relax with their friends in a comfortable environment.
The time out space is staffed by volunteers, therefore we are unable to offer any medical assistance or dispense medication. HIV Positive people in need of medication or first aid support should seek first aid and medical advice from the Medical Staff present at the parties.
PLWHA Victoria will provide facilities for the storage of personal effects and medication, however, PLWHA Victoria does not take any responsibility for items left at the space.
Midsumma Carnival:
When visiting the Midsumma Festival Annual Carnival, please feel free to pay a visit to the PLWHA Victoria tent/marquee. At the tent you can freshen up with free cold water and fresh fruit, pick up your latest copy of PosLink and other resources while chatting with friends, staff and volunteers of PLWHA Victoria.
The space also offers the opportunity to sit down and take a break throughout the day, rest those tired feet, and give your pets a chance to have a drink and rest also.
